Gloucester City Man Arrested & Charged With Robbery

Harry F. Laute, Jr., of Gloucester City, was arrested on April 13 on robbery charges. He was located on the roof of a nearby self-storage facility.

Harry F. Laute, Jr., was arrested on April 13 on robbery charges for an alleged incident that took place on Route 130, the Gloucester City Police Department announced today.

On April 13 at 6:37 a.m., police responded to the Planet Fitness in the Brooklawn Shopping Center for a reported robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim had reported the robbery in Brooklawn, but it had actually occurred on Rt. 130 next to C.W. Clarke Auto Sales in Gloucester City, the post stated.


“The victim reported that a male had assaulted her by pulling her to the ground by her hair and stole her purse, before fleeing towards the Brooklawn Shopping Center. The victim sustained injuries to her hands and feet during the assault.”

The suspect was located hiding on the roof of Bellmawr Self Storage on Kings Highway and arrested without incident. Brooklawn and Bellmawr Police also assisted.

Laute was charged with robbery and remanded to Camden County Jail pending a detention hearing. 

D/Sgt. Carl DePoder, Sgt. Bill Eller, Inv. Joe Hopkins, and Ptl. John Bryszewski were the investigating officers.
