Lindenwold Woman Charged With Strict Liability Death for Supplying Drugs to OD Victim

 

Lisa Hicks, 28, of Lindenwold has been arrested and charged with supplying drugs to two overdose victims, one of whom did not survive, according to an announcement released today by the Camden County Prosecutor’s office and the Lindenwold Police Department.


The statement indicated that on September 5, 2016, Lindenwold Police responded to the scene of a drug overdose involving two victims.

The first victim was located on the bedroom floor unconscious and breathing. He was revived by Emergency Medical Personnel using Narcan and was then transported to an area hospital for follow-up medical treatment. The second victim was found deceased in the bathroom.

Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Dylan Deacon and Lindenwold Police Detective Christopher Sherrer revealed that the overdose victims purchased Fentanyl from a woman in Lindenwold.

Hicks was charged on October 11, 2016 with one count of third-degree possession with intent to distribute and one count of second-degree distribution of a controlled dangerous substance within 500 Feet Of Lindenwold Towers. Her bail was set at $50,000 full cash.

Toxicology Report

Detectives received the toxicology report on December 12, 2016 and the report confirmed the second victim’s cause of death was an overdose of Fentanyl, which prompted an additional charge to be filed.

Strict Liability Death Charge

Hicks was charged with one count of first-degree strict liability death. Her bail was set at $200,000 full cash.

Members of the Camden County Suburban Narcotics Unit, along with Officer Goonan of the Camden County Sheriff’s Department, arrested Hicks today in the 1100 block of Princess Avenue in Camden.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
