Parkside Non-Profit Awarded $690K Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit Investment from Campbell Soup Company

Parkside Business & Community In Partnership, Inc., a non-profit. has announced a $689,5000 Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit grant from Campbell Soup Company.

Camden — Parkside Business & Community In Partnership, Inc., (PBCIP) a non-profit community development corporation working in the Parkside neighborhood of Camden, recently announced its Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit (NRTC) grant from Campbell Soup Company to fund revitalization efforts in the Parkside Neighborhood in Camden.

Total grant award is $689,500.

NRTC investment will support initiatives arising from PBCIP’s 2017 Neighborhood Planning effort, a 10 month, resident-driven project that resulted in a comprehensive strategic plan for transformative neighborhood change.

The NRTC Program is designed to foster the revitalization of New Jersey’s distressed neighborhoods. Program funds are used by neighborhood-based non-profit organizations that have prepared, submitted and received approval from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs for a revitalization plan for the neighborhood it serves.

The funds must be used by the eligible organizations for projects and activities that will implement the goals and strategies of the approved neighborhood plan.

Campbell’s support of PBCIP revitalization projects will benefit residents in the Parkside neighborhood in four distinct ways:

Advancing the quality of housing stock through the development of a 44-unit multifamily development project that provides quality workforce housing:

  • Creating a vibrant business corridor with a stronger retail presence and new community-based entrepreneurs filling real estate vacancies and providing jobs for residents;
  • Providing greater access to healthy foods through expansion and integration of gardening activities that will connect to recreational amenities and active living programs; and,
  • Reinvigorating the Parkside Block Captain’s “PRIDE” Network with a continued focus on neighborhood beautification, public safety and resident engagement.

Founded over 20 years ago, PBCIP integrates commercial revitalization, housing, healthy living and quality-of-life initiatives to create a sustainable neighborhood. Parkside is rich in history and holds a true sense of community among its residents. Through Campbell’s NRTC investment, PBCIP is bringing key strategic partners together to increase building rehab opportunities, revitalized blocks, economic growth, connections and progress for sustained hope.

Partners include Camden County Historical Society, Cornerstone Community Partners, Haddon Avenue Business Association, LAEDA (Latin American Economic Development Association), NJ Conservation Foundation, as well as Purpose Built Communities. These planned initiatives and collaborations ensure a transformative impact in Parkside will occur.
