Two Cherokee Students Are National Merit Semifinalists

Semifinalists are the highest scoring entrants in each of the 50 states and represent less than one percent of each state’s high school seniors.

Marlton, NJ – Cherokee High School is proud to congratulate two academically talented seniors who have been named 2022 National Merit Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.


Recently, Eric Lin and Siddharth Parikh were notified they will join approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Lin and Parikh will have the opportunity to continue to the Finalist level.

Semifinalists must have outstanding academic records throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, write an essay, and earn SAT or ACT scores that confirm the student’s earlier performance on the qualifying test.

They will compete for nearly 7,500 National Merit Scholarships to be awarded in March through June of 2022.

Three types of National Merit Scholarships offered include:

  • 2,500 National Merit Scholarships worth $2,500 each
  • Approximately 1,000 corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarships
  • About 4,000 college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards

The Lenape Regional High School District’s four high schools – Lenape, Shawnee, Cherokee and Seneca – as well as the Sequoia Alternative Program, educate approximately 6,850 students from eight communities in Burlington County.
