In preparation for the Warren Avenue water tank replacement, the contractor will begin to auger a test pile the week of July 24, reported Bellmawr Borough engineer Tom Cundey at the July 20 caucus meeting. He said: “These are augered piles. These will be quieter and dug — not pounded, and then they pour concrete in them.”
Merriam Webster defines auger as “any of various tools or devices with a helical shaft or part that are used for boring holes (as in wood, soil, or ice) or moving loose material.”

Cundey also said that equipment has been unloaded to the site and that the contractor has been submitting shop drawings for review.

Browning Road Temporary Bridge
The temporary bridge on Browning Road for Contract 3 of the ongoing Route 42/I-295 road project is slated to open in October and is scheduled to be in place for 18 months, Cundey stated. He said there is an issue with getting clearance for the gas line on the bridge and design changes are being made to clear that up.

Batting Cages
The batting cage project is awaiting some additional closeout work and the State project manager is working on change orders to completely finish the project, Cundey reported.
Morris Avenue
As for the Morris Avenue reconstruction project, Cundey said that the new curbs and driveway aprons were installed and the road was paved this week.
Council’s monthly meeting will be on Thursday, July 27 at 7:00 p.m. at Bellmawr Borough Hall.
