Westville Pair Arrested On Charges Stemming From Alleged Sexual Assault of a Minor

A man and a woman from Westville have been arrested on charges stemming from the alleged sexual assault of a minor.

According to a statement released by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s office, Gabriel Torres, 42, and Mary B. Giannone, 51, of the same Westville address, have been charged with sexually assaulting a girl in Westville when she was under the age of 13.

Giannone was arrested on April 20 at the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office. Torres was also arrested in Glassboro on the same day. Both were remanded to the Salem County Jail pending detention hearings.  

Torres is charged with alleged aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child on dates between October 2015 and December 2016. Giannone is charged with alleged sexual assault by contact and endangering the welfare of a child on October 14, 2015. 

The Deptford Township Police Department assisted the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office in the investigation.

All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law.
